Dichotomy – We Ask for Mercy, Yet Show None

CHITRAL: Truly, we are a strange people. We live in a world of dichotomy and hypocrisy. We say and preach one thing but practice just the opposite. We pray for and expect mercy from Almighty Allah but absolve ourselves from the responsibility of showing mercy to Allah’s beings, be they animals, birds, insects, even trees and mountains and rivers.
We ravage whatever comes our way but become most humble while praying to Allah for His mercy. How can we live and thrive with this dichotomic mindset. How can we cheat ourselves so brazenly.
Isn’t it time that we realise and accept what is right and what is wrong. Allah Almighty has sent us to this world to live our lives in a decent and civilised manner. We have been reduced to consider offering religious rituals as our only duty and take no responsibility for obeying Allah’s commands and wishes when it comes to dealing with other human beings, animals, nature and other blessings which Allah Almighty has gifted us to appreciate respect and live in harmony with.
Our crisis is not only political or economic – it is moral. A society that prays for mercy but denies mercy to others cheats itself. True religion demands alignment between prayer and practice. Until we embrace honesty, compassion, and respect for all of Allah’s creations, our rituals will remain empty, and our prayers unanswered.
The choice is stark: continue living in hypocrisy, or rediscover the essence of faith – integrity in action. ,, CN report, 08 Sep 2026
A very thought-provoking and meaningful message. True faith is not only about asking for Allah’s mercy, but also about showing mercy, kindness, and respect to His creation. Our actions should reflect the values we pray for. A powerful reminder for all of us to look within ourselves and bring more compassion into our daily lives.
I agree with the view expressed in Chitral News. We are all hypocrites when put to test in situations where our personal interests are at stake no matter how much we claim to be a person of principals. If we ask for mercy from Allah, in lieu we owe mercy to Allah’s creations.
We are supposed to share the world with Allah’s other creations. Our Allah is “Rab ul Alemeen” (Lord of the universe) and our Prophet PBUH is “Rehmat ulil Alemeen (a mercy to all creation). There is no permission for muslims to be unkind to anyone, any creature, any creation, at any time.
