Chitral: Local radio station closure lamented

Chitral — FM-93 station of Radio Pakistan Chitral has been shut down for unknown reasons. The Radio went on air on 10th September 2016 for the last time. On enquiry it is stated that Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation has closed the Chitral station on the order of the PML (N) high ups. It is worth mentioning here that PML (N) leadership had closed Chitrali Journal Jamhoore Islam in 1992. The Government had closed Chitral radio station in May 2014. Later it was re-opened on the recommendation of the former GOC Malakand Major General Nadir Khan in August 2015. In view of the strategic significance of 14850 sq. km area having 600 km common border with Afghanistan, it is again brought to the notice of the Corp Commander 11 Corp and GOC Malakand to push the federal government for re-opening of FM-93 Radio Pakistan Chitral.— Dr Inayat ullah Faizi, 20 Oct 2016.
