CHITRAL: Ever since the demarcation of Chitral into upper and lower districts, every aspect of progress is viewed in the two different districts in separate windows. The fact is that progress witnessed by residents of upper Chitral overshadows that of lower Chitral in many to most respects. Whether it be the field of education, job quality, entrepreneurship or sportsmanship, upper Chitral clearly displays an upper hand.
May it be the example of the Deputy Speakership of the Province’s Assembly, DIG of the region, senior beaurocrats, educationists, most somehow happen to belong to upper Chitral. The recent promotions in the Pakistan Army has four Lieutenant Colonels from both Chitral districts promoted to the rank of full Colonels. Out of these three belong to upper Chitral and only only one belongs to lower Chitral.
One wonders why is this glaring difference of accomplishments between the two Chitrals- Is it that the water is more rich with minerals up there, is the weather more prodding in upper Chitral, is it that education has been paid more attention there or is there something else? — CN report, 07 May 2026

At the same time, I do not consider becoming a Deputy Speaker or attaining the rank of Colonel as the ultimate benchmark of success, particularly when we ourselves often criticize these very institutions as contributors to our backwardness, yet simultaneously use them as standards for measuring achievement.
Instead, please provide examples of individuals who have genuinely brought positive change or made meaningful contributions to the community through their work, leadership, and social impact.
