CHITRAL: Considering the amount of lies being told in the society, it’s devastating effect on our social fiber, the apathy towards it and considering telling lies as a petty sin which can be forgiven through prayers and rituals, a bill board (8ftx4ft) has been put up at the Ataliq Chowk, in Chitral town bazar.
The Quranic verse, of which translation in Urdu is posted above means “Curse of Allah is on those who tell lies”.
There are also numerous Ahadith (sayings of the Prophet (PBUH) which denounce telling lies in the strongest terms, but unfortunately our religious preachers give no importance to this root cause of almost all societal sins. The result is telling lies has become a norm in the society where (almost) every one tells lies with impunity from the home to the school, to the office, to the court room, everywhere and everytime. .. Fully agree with your points. Unfortunately, Lying is the bitter truth today..
It’s our national character & will remain with us till eternity! 🙄 We are instinctual liars, unfortunately & without any let up. Just learn to live with it! No amount of wall chalking or sermons will help?
