The great Aga Khan passes away-Chitral mourns

CHITRAL: His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, has passed away in Lisbon on 04 Feb 2024, aged 88. The news has spread across the world with feelings of loss and sorrow.

The legacy which the late Aga Khan leaves behind transcends borders, communities, faiths and ethnicities.  It is  is not just in the institutions he built but in the lives he touched and the bridges he built between cultures.

Late Aga Khan’s contribution to Chitral and the Northern areas of Pakistan is particularly significant, in that he raised an erstwhile under developed and back benching community to a vibrant and forward looking entity as of today. Whether in the field of education, health, administration, entrepreneurship, or social work, his followers are front runners and they have spread their wings to the far corners of the world. Education was the main priority of the late Aga Khan and has been the main engine of progress and prosperity for his followers and people of the area in general.

The late Aga Khan’s commitment to improving the quality of life for the underprivileged and his efforts to promote pluralism and dialogue will continue to inspire future generations. The world has lost a great leader, but his vision and achievements will endure. .. CN report, 05 Feb 2025
