CHITRAL: With the rapid growth of urban populations, it has become increasingly important to organize the annual Muslim ritual of animal sacrifice, offered in the name of Allah in remembrance of the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim (AS)—in a more practical and manageable way.
Instead of individuals sacrificing sheep separately, communities could consider collectively sacrificing a larger animal, such as an ox or a camel, which is permitted to suffice for multiple people according to Islamic teachings. A feasible approach would be for regular worshipers at a local mosque to pool their contributions to purchase such an animal. A single, collective sacrifice could then be carried out on behalf of the entire group.
Throughout history, religious scholars have reflected upon evolving social conditions and, through consensus (ijma’), introduced practical adaptations to religious practices while staying true to the core principles of Islam. What is so difficult for the government to gather the Ulema and after consultations according to Islamic rules (Ijmaa’) arrive at a conclusion and then implement the decision in letter and spirit. It will be a win win situation for all – man and animal.

Agree with your point. Collective Sacrifice is a shared responsibility. Many people can come together to fulfill the obligation of Qurbani. Collective sacrifice can provide more meat for distribution among those in need, cause community bonding. It fosters a sense of unity and cooperation within the community.
Nowadays, Individual animal sacrifice has become more of a display. In some communities, the type and number of animals sacrificed can be seen as a reflection of social status.
Individual sacrifice is indeed a multifaceted matter , with valid concerns.The market has grown significantly, leading to concerns about exploitation and commercialization.
Large-scale animal sacrifice can have environmental implications, such as waste management and pollution.
However, it’s also a deeply meaningful act for many, representing deeply spiritual and meaningful act, symbolizing, devotion, Charity and tradition.
