Pakistan is in the throes of a grievous economic turmoil. We are begging for more money from the IMF to pay for the interest of the previously loaned money. Under such circumstances having two days weekly holiday is criminal. According to economic experts, the recent five day holidays on Eidul Azha caused a neat loss of Rs 400 billion to the economy. Having two and half days off (half day on Friday) depletes the country of 30 percent productive time. Instead of closing down the government offices and businesses on weekends, we should adopt a system where the organisation works seven days a week but individuals can have one day off in a week on different days rotational basis, thus not closing down the office or the business. This new concept is practicable and adoptable, and the economic crisis in the country demands we adopt such and similar strict disciplinary measures.
