CHITRAL:  In the ongoing summer season there have been a record number of electricity transformers bursting in Chitral town due to the purported reason of being overloaded. In a recent case, a privately installed transformer in Ataliq bazar Chitral gave in three times within a span of ten days due to the same given reason by Wapda of being overloaded. The said transformer of 50 Kva strength was bearing the load of a maximum of 15 Air-conditioners mostly of banks,  beside some fans and LED lights in shops.

On the contrary a person doing business in Super Market Islamabad told this scribe that the plaza in which he was located had a over eighty air-conditioners depending on a 100 Kva transformer and working fine.

The reason why everything is substandard in Chitral including essential services,  is because there is no accountability. An insider told  ‘Chitral News’ that the material used for repair of the transformer is of substandard quality which breaks down frequently and the contractor in connivance with the organization keeps making money on it. ..
