CHITRAL: Muslims offer prayers five times a day behind the prayer leader, however not many understand the meaning of the verses recited in the prayers. It would be a great service to Islam if the person leading the prayers first translates the meaning and if need be little explanation of the Quranic suras that he would be reciting during the prayers, before the actual prayer commences.
In this way the prayer goers will better understand the essence of the prayers they are about to offer and would be more attached to the spirit of the prayers, instead of merely offering the obligatory ritual without being involved mentally.
This should be done before every prayers especially including the Friday prayers, Eid prayers or funeral prayers etc.
Doing so, anything the imam recites in Arabic during the prayers, it’s meaning and essence delivered in the local understandable language would be assimilated and absorbed by the followers. .. CN report, 06 Dec 2024.

Very good idea I fully support it and most imams should be able to follow this easily.
An excellent suggestion! Let us hope this trend is initiated from Chitral and spreads around in the rest of the country!
If this can be done it would be great, because I am 60 years old and yet do not understand the meaning of Suras recited in prayers. The result is I offer the ritual but am devoid of the message the prayer conveys due to non-understanding of the Arabic language.
I believe, in many Mosques in Chitral they can be able to do, but in rest of KPK it will be a challenge.
When praying alone I decide before hand which soorahs I’m going to recite and look up their meanings and explanations in the Holy Quran and prayer book before reciting them in actual prayers. Like this I’ve started implementing it on myself at least.
