PTI ministers visit Chitral

Chitral — Provincial Law minister Imtiaz Qureshi and minister for housing Dr Amjad Afridi along with a five member entourage including MPA Gul Naseeb Khan visited Chitral in connection with PTI intra party election.

Speaking on the purpose of the visit Law Minister Imtiaz Qureshi said they wanted a joint candidate of Lower KP and Malakand division to contest for provincial presidentship as these area have been left behind. He proposed MPA Gul Naseeb Khan for the post and sought opinion of Chitralis. He however clarified that this choice was not final  and could be revised according to the wishes of PTI members. Dr Amjad Afridi and Gul Nasseeb Khan also spoke on the issue.

Speaking on the occasion Wg Cdr (r) Fardad Ali Shah, who is an aspirant for the provincial presidentship said he believed PTI as one unit with Imran Khan as it’s warden and did not approve of groupings and regionalism which has damaged the party in the past. He said according to the new system of direct elections any one considering himself deserving could contest elections individually and merit should be the only criteria for the members to decide. He said if there was a deserving candidate in DI Khan Chitralis would vote for him but if there was a more deserving candidate from Chitral, other districts should support him. This is the essence of PTI and justice, he said. Change comes through paradigm shift in thinking. Following old failed pattern and expecting change would be foolish, he said. Those who spoke on the occasion included former district coordinator Rehmat Ghazi, former district president Abdul Latif, former tehsil president Haji Sultan, Member district council, Muhammad Yaqub, Member district council Ghulam Mustafa, Member Tehsil council Abdul Majid, Muhammad Qasim and others.
