Pollutants destroying aquatic life in Chitral river
According to a well-placed source, fish are found dead in the river Chitral??in a large number these days.??Those who go fishing say that peculiar spots are glaringly visible on the skin of the dead fish.??They further added that they have found remains of chemicals and emptied bottles of medicines near the river bed, which might have been dumped into the river causing the death of precious marine life.
The River Chitral emanates from Chiantar glacier in the Baroghal valley and passes through numerous hamlets during the course of its journey before entering Afghanistan.??The residents who live in close proximity to the river dump their wastes into it putting the marine life in great jeopardy. Last year, some health workers and Hospital staff were also found red-handed throwing hospital waste into the river.
?It?s obvious from the recent incidence of the death of fish in the river Chitral that the contamination of the river goes on unabated. It is imperative to mention here that the aquatic animals are a source of rich food for the consumers. The increasing pollutants will make them unsafe for human consumption.??The District Administration must take serious action against those who are contaminating the river Chitral with impunity. ..
