Fruit price drops due to absence of buyers in recession

CHITRAL: As in other parts of the country, Chitral is also experiencing a severe recession the gravity of which is increasing by the day. Seasonal fruits brought from down country like guavas, bananas, persimmon, apples etc await customers on push carts and in vegetable shops.

The price of a kilo of Afghan pomegranate which used to cost up to six hundred rupees in the previous years is now available for just over a hundred rupees in the market. One daily wager when asked about the phenomenon said previously he could buy an occasional handful of fruit but now he can hardly manage to buy the basic vegetables like tomatoes onions and cabbage, so there is no way he can think of indulging in the luxury of buying fruit. ..
