Shahnagar without water for two years

Chitral -- Shah Nagar village of Drosh town is without adequate potable water for two years. This was disclosed to the press by Dr Sardarul Mulk former DG health who belongs to Drosh. Dr Sardar said the water channel which supplied water to Shahnagar was washed away in the floods of August 2010 and since has not been repaired. The residents of the area have to fetch water from a distance and are facing much hardship in this regard. He said billions of rupees come into Chitral through the govt and various NGOs but most of it disappears in thin air and essential jobs like the one mentioned above remained unattended to despite being constantly demanded from the relevant departments. He said the Govt and relevant NGOs should immediately take up the task of repairing the water channel of Shahnagar. -- CN report, Chitral 14 June 2012.
