Together We shall Rise -letter

Terrorism claimed thousands of precious lives of civilians and army personnel in Pakistan in the year 2008-09. The writ of the state no longer exists in the tribal belt of the country, in swat and now it has reached lower Dir. As a result nine gallant soldiers belonging to Chitral Scouts and embraced Shahadat in an ambush "may their souls rest in eternal peace, Aamin". The fear aroused in the hearts of of every soul in Chitral who caught glimpse of the Army Helicopters circling round the valley, with corpses of the Shaheed soldiers of Chitral Scouts. The people of Chitral stared at the Helicopters having question marks in their eyes “Are we going to be next..? Is our Government not competent enough to counter terrorism? Are we compromised? Who actually are the Talibans?, insurgents or terrorists? And so many...

Some unidentified miscreants tried to sabotage Swat peace agreement. One will have to think that what should be our modus operandi if such situation 'God Forbid'  happened to us. Now, the sole responsibility of law enforcing and security agencies is to watch every nook and corner of Chitral. We should not create a power vacuum and fill it with Taliban. Feeble attempts by the Government to counter militancy, lack of law enforcing agencies, existing injustices, communication gap and sectarianism are fuelling the Taliban to flourish in the region.

We all Chitralis need to make a commitment with ourselves and to save our ever-lasting-peace not for the sake of ourselves but for the upcoming generations, that we will not allow any body who wants to sabotage our peace, we will keep vigilance on such miscreants who want to create trouble for us. We will be in touch and keep cooperative approach with our law enforcing and security agencies. Let's be one and say that "Together We shall Rise"
