Electricity signs off in Chitral CHITRAL, 07 April 08: As usual, with the first few drops of rainfall three days back, electric supply system ceased to function, the electricity office blaming the transmission line passing over Lowari pass for it; plunging half of Chitral town into darkness. Three days on and the reign of darkness continues, now the only difference is that power from the limp local station is being supplied to different localities with a 12 hours long load shedding dose. Ironically the local power station which can easily be upgraded to 4 MW from the present 1MW is being ignored and electricity is being imported from the south. A typical case of " Taking coal to New castle". --(CN report)
