Lowari Tunnel Bus service this winter
CHITRAL, 09 Oct 08: Lowari tunnel is expected to make ends
meet by mid December and as a temporary make do arrangement, twice weekly
Bus shuttle service will transport travelers through the tunnel during
closure of the pass.
Talking to CN, project director Lowari Tunnel project
Engr Abdul Samad said, after the basic tunneling is through, the NHA would
acquire coasters to shuttle through the tunnel two days per week ferrying a
total of 1000 passengers on each day totaling 2000 passengers per week.
He said incase of shortage of essential supplies during the
pass closure period, convoys of trucks carrying such stuff would be allowed
to pass through the tunnel at particular times halting the construction
work.
Chitralis are thrilled at the very thought of not being
stranded these winters --(CN report)
