Forest
protection drive gains strength
Chitral -- The Forest protection drive started with protests in Ayun
village of District Chitral against indiscriminate deforestation of
the Kalash and adjoining valleys gained strength when prominent
members of civil society and NGOs joined in the struggle to preserve
the remaining forests. At a press conference in Peshawar Chairman of
the Forest Protection Council Captain Siraj ul Mulk along with Ms
Christina addressing, said the government functionaries and
representatives were both involved and aiding the mafias in ruthless
deforestation of the area and if it doesn't stop this, the people
will themselves take up upon themselves to protect their forests by
whatever means they can.-- CN report,
