Musharraf advised against contesting
from Chitral : Prominent
Social and political worker from Drosh Haji Muhammad Shifa has
advised General Pervez Musharraf not to contest elections
from Chitral as it would adversely effect the peaceful situation
here. He said Musharraf had no doubt done great service by
re-initiating the Lowari tunnel project but he should refrain
from cashing on it.. He said Musharraf has made many enemies and
they would follow him to Chitral which would not bid well for

Suicide, Death cases: A
Chitrali laborer working in Gilgit namely committed suicide by
hanging himself in an under construction building. A young
man Sher Ali s/o Gul Mat Khan, r/o Begusht was electrocuted in
Iran where he was working in a medical clinic. His body was
brought to his native village after nine days and buried

Many announce to contest elections:
Months before the announcement of general elections, a
number of individuals have already announced through the press
their intentions to contest. Ex president PPP Zainul Abeddin
some time back announced contesting for both the NA and PA

candidature for the NA. Now Irshad Mukkarar of PPP(Sherpao) has

Jeep accident claims three lives at
Istaru Torkhow: Three persons lost their lives when
the jeep carrying them skidded off the road and fell hundreds of
feet down into the river at Istaru. The deceased are, Ali Zafar

started functioning on Tuesday. PTCL has set record of

94 year old subedar Mehboob Alam, a cultural icon of Chitral, has
suffered cardiac stroke and is admitted to the Chitral Scouts hospital.

Water Governance Training Held by KLSO
Mulkhow: Training workshop on water governance for
water management committees of Union Council Mulkhow was held at
KLSO Office Warijun. The workshop was jointly organized by
International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development
(ICIMOD),Aga Khan Rural Support Organization (AKRSP) and Khow
Local Support Organization (KLSO). 54 participants 17 female and
37 male participated who shared the local knowledge regarding
water issues and suggested remedial measures to overcome water
deficiency especially in summers. A local water management
committee was formed where representation to various settlements
of UC Mulkhow has been given. The committee will play lead role
in resolving water related issues in KLSO jurisdiction in close

NBP building to be demolished for
byepass road: The executing authorities of the
Chitral bazaar byepass road have taken an appropriate step in
deciding to demolish the National Bank building at the Ataliq
chowk, in order to straighten the byepass road. Earlier the
authorities were trying to circumvent the bank building thus
unnecessary lengthening and uglifying the alignment of the road,
but on public demand to sacrifice government buildings also
along with private buildings, the authorities have finally
decided to demolish the building and straighten the road. -- CN
